Kelly Brook UK has, unfortunately, been on a lot of different web hosts over its
time on the internet. Web hosts have, in many cases, been less than honest about the
services that they provide.
To show my dissatisfaction with the situation I have created this web page to
demonstrate some of the treatment I have got. Amazingly, this isn't a complete
list. Some hosts have simply died for a few days, forcing me to move it to
somewhere else. Whilst this is not the same as suspending my unlimited
account for reaching a limit, it is annoying nonetheless. They are not included here.
Please note, I have included the IP owner and RDNS host name
in each case. I am NOT indicting these
companies in any way, merely showing who is further up "the chain". They may,
in some cases, have put pressure to bear on the resellers.
Weh Hosting 101 (thehosting101.com)
This one was called "RESELLER WEB HOSTING,UNLIMITED SPACE & DOMAINS 13/MONTH"
and again, just a couple of days before the familiar "hosting suspended"
page and login disabled. I emailed the address from which the setup
instructions came from with no reply. Eventually I logged a ticked in their
lpanel system at which point I was told I "cannot use our servers to as a place
to download files or as a storage place for your files". Funny thing is,
I was doing neither of these things. I replied to their ticket and they
deleted the whole ticket! Finally, after opening a new ticket, they
agreed to a refund.

Wirehost (wirehost.ws)
This one had the heading of "UNLIMITED HOSTING- JUST $8/YEAR L00K!!!!!!"
and lasted a couple of weeks. My site showed a "Hosting Suspended"
page and my login
stopped working. I sent an email to enquire why this has happened (again they didn't
bother to let me know!) and I was told
my site was using too much CPU and/or memory. I was told I should have
read the TOS, which wasn't surprising, UNLIMITED was plastered all over the ebay
advert but the TOS was in an un-clickable link at the base of the page and basically
says "if you use too much cpu/memory we'll kick you off. oh and we are
the sole deciders of what defines too much and we don't need to give your proof".
The web host's sales page has mysteriously disappeared at the time of writing.

Ziggy Host (ziggyhost.com)
This auction was sold as "UNLIMITED SPACE & BANDWIDTH WEB HOSTING /w CPANEL"
and lasted under 2 weeks. My site showed a "Hosting Suspended" page and my login
stopped working. I sent an email to enquire why this has happened and I was told
one particular image was loading thousands of times per second. Funny, I haven't
touched the code in weeks, why would it suddenly happen now if it was a problem
on my side? Fees were refunded and the system administrators (presumably Fat Network)
were blamed.

Prolink Hosting (prolinkhosting.com)
This auction was sold as "UNLIMITED Webhosting DISK/SPACE WEB HOSTING FANTASTICO"
and lasted all of 3 days. My site showed a "Hosting Suspended" page and my login
stopped working. I sent an email to enquire why this has happened and I received an
apology and a refund. He implied that the server admins disabled my account without
telling him.

Grid Web Host (gridwebhost.co.uk)
I won this Ebay auction titled as "Hosting UNLIMITED WebSpace & Bandwidth
YEARLY Package". No more than 2 weeks into
my hosting "experience" with them, my website was showing a "Hosting Suspended" page with
instructions to contact the Administrator. Fine, I thought, and sent an email. The
reply said that I "may have spammed the server", and that they would look into it.
2 hours later I requested an update, and since that time I have had no reply. The
page now shows "Bandwidth Exceeded" and the cPanel login doesn't work.
Update: after 2 weeks I got a reply to say "Yes all is fixed now, sorry we had a
security update.". Crappy excuse, crappy response time, just plain crap.
Having gone back and given them a second chance, I find they imposed a bandwidth quota
on my account within cPanel. "It's just for display purposes" I was told. Sure
enough, when the cap was reached my site showed a "Bandwidth Exceeded" page. No
third chances.

Pinpoint Hosting (pinpointhosting.com)
I did not directly sign up with a package from Pinpoint Hosting. However
they run the server which Grid Web Host (above) use. The reason I contacted
Pinpoint Hosting at all was an interesting one. I received an email
regarding an Ebay auction for an HP iPaq. It was notable because it was from
lewis@pinpointhosting.com - same domain as the Grid Web Host server. After emailing
him back he did little more to help than try to sell me more hosting. When challenged
about why he sent me an email about his auction he said it's a "one off thing that
I have done". Using email addresses from customer account details to send
unsolicited emails about his Ebay auctions? Disgraceful.
Usmanbiz (usmanbiz.com)
This account lasted almost two months and was titled "Host 3 Domains with Unlimited
Space & Bandwidth". Not really all that unlimited, as one day may website was showing
a "Site Suspended" holding page and the login was disabled. Web hosts never seem
to bother contacting their
customers when they suspend a site, they just leave it up to you to contact them.
No warnings either, they just flick the switch. Anyway, they told me I was using
some percentage of server resources and said if I remove that domain from the
account then they would unsuspend it. Well great, that was the only domain I
was hosting with them! Needless to say, that was the end of my relationship with
Usmanbiz.

TranceHosting (trancehosting.com)
This account lasted about a month and was titled "Cpanel Hosting-Unlimited
Storage&Bandwidth". I was told that my website had "100's of WWW connections"
and that my hosting had been suspended for "inappropriate use of server resources".
Once again, unlimited did not mean unlimited.

Time2Host (time2host.co.uk)
This account lasted just a day! Title of auction was "* Web Hosting * Unmetered
Webspace & Bandwidth * 1 Year". It actually turned out to be one day, apparently
my website was "deemed to be of an adult nature by some of our visitors and staff".
Weird, I don't see any nudity on this website. Certainly nothing that would be
deemed "adult nature" in the United Kingdom. I feel this was just an excuse after
they saw usage statistics for the first day. I'm also amazed that so many
"visitors and staff" had complained about this website after spending just
24 hours on their servers. No-one ever emails me to complain!
